DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this tutorial is for readers to understand what self actualization is.

What is Self Actualization

A popular term used today by motivational speakers, successful executives and entrepreneurs is self actualization. Pretty much self actualization means being all that you can be, firing on all cylinders or unlocking your full potential. While self actualization doesn’t come easy, there are many people that can attain it if they work hard enough.

Self actualization is truly the Holy Grail to success. If you want to succeed you need to inspire yourself to choose goals that interest you and a desire and drive that will help you work through the failures, negative thinking and obstacles to attain your goals.

Many people never achieve self actualization but that doesn’t mean they can’t attain important goals. The key to self actualization is to create moderate goals and devise a plan of action to attain them. Many people that attain self actualization have already achieved success in their relationships, attained financial security, have held an important position at work and now are able to focus on their personal growth.

If you are looking to achieve self actualization, you can read up on it in many psychological and motivational books. Self actualization is a term originally coined by Abraham Maslow in his theory of hierarchy of needs.

What are the Characteristics of a Self Actualized Person

Self actualization is an important term used by motivational speakers and people looking to reach their full potential. Self actualization is usually defined as being all that you can be or unlocking your potential. The term self actualization was originally coined by psychologist Abraham Maslow in his theory of Hierarchy of Needs.

Some of the characteristics of a person that is self actualized are reality cantered, emotionally well adjusted, and strong ethics.

  • Reality Cantered
Many people are not successful because they spend their day worrying about things that really don’t matter. If you are reality cantered, you can cut through the nonsense and work diligently to achieve real results on pressing matters.
  • Emotionally Well Adjusted
We all have our ups and downs, but self actualized people are able to remain positive, optimistic and remove negative thoughts that take away their self esteem or entrap them in a spiral of failure.
  • Strong Ethics
In order to create meaningful goals, you need to believe in something or stand for something important. If you have a strong value system or a desire to right a wrong, strong ethics can give you drive and desire to motivate you and achieve your goals.
By understanding the characteristics of self actualization, we can better prod ourselves to unlocking our potential and attaining our goals.
