DESCRIPTION

With Front Page you can type and edit text as you would with any word processor. You use the toolbars and menus to edit text and Front Page generates the HTML tags which visitors' browser will use to display your web pages.

Examples of text formats

Importing Text from Microsoft Word

If you copy and paste text from Microsoft Word into FrontPage, it is automatically converted to HTML.

  • Select the text you want to copy in Microsoft Word
  • In Microsoft Word, on the Standard toolbar, click Copy

The text is copied to the Windows clipboard.

  • Switch into FrontPage's Page view
  • Position the insertion point where you want to paste the copied text
  • On the Standard toolbar, click Paste

The text is pasted from the Windows clipboard.

Tip: The shortcut key Ctrl + V pastes the copied text to the insertion point location. FrontPage supports standard Windows keyboard shortcuts.

Copying Text

You can use the same technique to copy text either between web pages or from one position to another on a web page.

To copy text

  • In Page view, select the text you want to copy
  • On the Standard toolbar, click Copy

The text is copied to the Windows clipboard.

  • Position the insertion point where you want to paste the copied text
  • On the Standard toolbar, click Paste

The text is pasted from the Windows clipboard.

Formatting Text

Using different fonts, font sizes and alignments can add enormously to the impact of a web page.

To change the font

  • In Page view, select the text you want to format
  • On the Format toolbar, click the down arrow to the right of the Font List to see a list of available fonts

  • Scroll down through the alphabetical list, and select an appropriate font

Note: FrontPage adds the HTML tag <font face="newfont"> to begin the font change and the HTML tag </font> to end the font change. You can see the HTML tags in HTML view.
